The ELLE TIME Story
THE ELLE TIME STORY
With
the exception of newspapers, few publications are defined by their home
city in the way that ELLE magazine is. Founded in 1947 by visionary
French fashion journalist Hélène Lazareff, ELLE has always been more
than simply a fashion magazine, chronicling not only the latest
collections but also the spirit of Paris style. Today, ELLE is the
largest fashion magazine in the world. ELLE publishes 42 magazine
editions worldwide and has licensed product in more than 80 countries,
including over 250 free-standing stores in Europe.
ELLE is a
fashion reference both for Parisians and those who want to imitate their
look and attitude. But to describe the ELLE style as that of Paris chic
is to make it sound more unobtainable than it really is. For the ELLE
formula is a simple one: classic basics + accessories = timeless
silhouettes. ELLE in French translates as ‘she’, and the magazine was
conceived by Lazareff to define her, the French girls ("les filles") on
the streets of Paris rather than as a showcase for high fashion. The
inspiration was, and continues to be, the effortless women who gossip on
the terrace of Café de Flore. The ELLE message is simple: you can look
like them too! Start with a trench, pop the collar, grab an ELLE TIME
watch and you’re on your way to becoming Parisian!
The
classic proportions of Parisian architecture inform the lines of the
ELLE TIME Style timepieces. The most chic and feminine of our
collections, these are watches made with Italian leather or high quality
silicone straps. The sophisticated shapes encapsulate the ELLE woman,
who is stylish, strong and sexy, and are infused with a European
sensibility. She is a leader and self-purchaser who uses fashion and
beauty to express herself in every aspect of her life. Classic and
timeless, they work for all ages of the ELLE woman.
